John Calvin has located a new rehearsal space and fully intends to continue working on the songs for the next WOS album. We'll be recruiting some new members or perhaps using studio musicians/friends to complete the next release, we haven't decided yet. Look for the digital re-issue of the original WOS cd's this year as well.
Welcome to the OFFICIAL WELL OF SOULS website!! WELL OF SOULS is a dark, doomy, gothicy, epic, classic metal band from Houston, TX USA formed on a gloomy winter day in December 1997 by vocalist/songwriter John Calvin. As of 2026, the band has recorded and released 2 CD EP's and 2 full length CD's and appeared on 2 compilation CD's. Many demos and tracks were written and recorded for the 3rd full length album in 2013-2014. Unfortunately with both Tim Wayne and Michael Millsap retiring from the music business, the band has been on hiatus since January 2015. The band lost its rehearsal space, equipment and all the master recordings, videos, etcetera, in a fire in 2022 . With only John Calvin and John “OJ” Morris remaining, the band has been on hold. If you have any live recordings or videos of the band please reach out to them at wos_1997@yahoo.com . The plans are to re-issue the previous material along with some bonus tracks.
The writing continues...
John's completed lyrics for 4 songs so far and the music is completed for 8-9 songs as well as a re-worked cover of the Dio classic "Don't Talk To Strangers". Guitar demo tracking has commenced. We are very excited to bring the new tunes to the masses!
